How Do I Join?

Membership
We welcome you every Sunday morning. At the conclusion of each Sunday Service, our pastor offers an invitation to Christian Discipleship. Anyone who is not a member of our congregation may take this opportunity to come forward and be received into membership. If this sounds intimidating to you, no worries there are other ways you can join. Just talk with the pastor. You can join our congregation by the following means:

Profession of Faith and Baptism
A person who begins the Christian life (baby, child, young person, or adult) does so through baptism, which is a symbol of God’s grace through Jesus Christ. For a young person or an adult, this is an opportunity to profess one’s faith. If God is leading you to this decision, we suggest that you visit with the pastor. The pastor will be happy to talk with you about this important step in your spiritual life.

Transfer from Another Christian Denomination
Since you have been baptized into the Christian faith in another denomination, it is not necessary for you to be re-baptized. We celebrate with you that part of your spiritual growth. We are also happy to receive you into the fellowship of our congregation and the United Methodist Church. You will be asked this question: “as a disciple of Jesus Christ, will you support the United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?” If you answer: “Yes, I will”, you become a part of the faithful community at First United Methodist Church in Taylor.

Transfer from another United Methodist Congregation
You are welcome to join our congregation at the end of the Sunday services. You will be asked: “Will you support this church with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness?” Once you answer: “Yes, I will”, the church staff will handle the membership transference details on your behalf.
